Daytona Beach is a burgeoning cultural oasis that offers event after event to thrill the mind and soul of its visitors.
This sightseeing place is home to the world’s most famous race track. Not only that, there are lots of things to check out here like watersports, golf, thrill rides, museum or gallery and the sparkling waters and stunning sands of the famous Daytona Beach.
Dining
If you love seafood, check out and try the shrimps at Bubba Gump Co. & Restaurant & Market located on the ground floor of the colorful Ocean Walk Shoppes building on your way to the beach area. The place offers a lot of dining choices. Daytona Beach restaurants serve up everything from the freshest seafood to traditional Southern-style cooking. You can enjoy good food at its dockside restaurants in your t-shirt and flip flops. You can start with a plate of oysters and some smoked kingfish and work your way up to a fresh grouper sandwich. The added benefit of Daytona dining is the influence of Spanish and Caribbean cuisine. You will find everything here whether it’s an authentic Cuban dish of roast pork and black beans or a helping of spicy Jamaican jerk chicken. If you love culinary adventure, you should try it here.
Shopping
Go shopping. Daytona Beach’s colorful oceanfront collection of restaurants, shops and entertainment is pure Daytona. You can also step onto the mainland between the Main Street and Silver Beach bridges and step back in time. Riverfront Marketplace offers visitors a relaxing environment in which to walk and enjoy charming old-world riverfront shops featuring specialty stores, jewelers, restaurants, nightclubs, a weekly farmer’s market and Halifax Historical Museum. If you want to bring home some memories, check out the shops just across the colorful Ocean Walk Shoppes. You’ll find shops with lots of displays of sovenier items like t-shirts and shells. Most of the shops will ship items back home for you. Just don’t hesitate to ask.
The Beach
Daytona Beach is long and wide and the management has imposed beach manners so when playing your radio at the beach, keep in mind that the police will fine you if your radio is considered a disturbance. And due to limited parking spaces, its county law stipulates that sun worshippers are only allowed to tan in front or behind their car but not on either side. It’s also illegal to possess glass or open containers in public places so don’t take your drinks with you when you leave bars and restaurants.
Parking and Driving on the Beach
Daily beach driving passes are $5 per vehicle but check out for change in fee structure before going. After 3 p.m. daily passes are $3. The speed limit at the beach is set at 10 mph and is strictly enforced.
