Cruisers are typically eager to sail because of the value. In cruises, usually expenses that are covered are entertainment, educational programs, hotel services and meals with suitcases unpacked and packed as you explore the beaches and mountains of new sightseeing places.

There are cruises aimed at singles, families, seniors, and gays and lesbians. But cruising is no fun without watching your budget. You have to make sure you understand your expenses before diving into debt. Remember that, on top of the fare, you have to take care of other expenses, such as out of pocket mixed drinks, wine, laundry, casino gambling, spa services and whatever fun thing you can find when sailing. If you are tagging along your baby, babysitting services are extra too, and, if you have to use the Internet, that’s another extra.

To get the best buck of your cruise price, strategies have to be considered, such as the ones below:

Book early

Locking in a rate six or nine months earlier before the sailing date can save you big bucks if prices go up, which usually is the case. Usually, when rates go down, most cruise lines honor the lower rate for those who have locked in or better still offer onboard credits for the difference.

Book Very Late

It is worth waiting for last minute deals.

Shop Around

There are numerous cruise lines that offer promotions and deals. Compare each then decide.

Take the Family

It saves money as many cruise lines have “Kids Sail Free” programs. Review the full offer carefully, however, as you might end up paying taxes, fees and port charges. Look for deals. There are many out there.

Beware cruising solo

Cruising solo can take up a surcharge ranging from 10 to 100 percent or even twice the per-person rate. Don’t hesitate to ask if the cruise line has a guaranteed share rate — the cruise line will try to find a passenger of the same gender.

Enjoy the fantastic view and discover the beauty of the landscape of the Lattari Mountains which lies directly on the sea and forms an indented coast line with many outreaching cliffs and coves.

The Amalfi Coast, a region of Italy’s coastline located south of Naples, contains the famous coastal resort towns of Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. It is a stretch of coastline on the southern side of the Sorrentine Peninsula of Italy, extending from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the east. It has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site because of its renowned rugged terrain, scenic beauty, picturesque towns and its diversity.

Amalfi is a charming and peaceful resort town, which was once one of the powerful Maritime Republics. It has historic interests and good beaches. It was one of the first Italian cities to emerge from the dark ages and by the ninth century became the most important port in Southern Italy.

Among the things you can see and do here are:

1. Beaches. Amalfi has great beaches considered to be the best in the coast with its crystal clear waters that are great for swimming, scuba diving or boating. Numerous establishments abound where you can rent beach chairs, umbrellas and changing rooms.

2. Shopping. The Limoncello di Amalfi is one of Amalfi’s top lemon liquor product found in local stores. You can also find Amalfi’sfamous handmade papers used in the Vatican.

Positano is a small town in Campania, Italy. The main part of the city sits in an enclave in the hills leading down to the coast. Its main attraction is the church of Santa Maria Assunta that features a dome made of majolica and a 13th Byzantine century icon of the Black Madonna.

Ravello is a town situated above the Amalfi Coast. It is a popular tourist town with main attractions that include the Doumo or Cathedral of Ravello, Villa Rufolo, Villa Cimbrone and the church of San Giovanni del Toro.

Considered the backbone of the Sorrentine-Amalfi Peninsula, the Lattari Mountains are predominantly made of limestone and its range of peaks is famous for its sweeping panoramas and great number of trekking routes.
